Abstract: An effective operation management mode is of great significance for bringing the social and economic benefits of intercity railways into full play. Based on an analysis of the status quo of railway operation management modes in China, the two operation management modes of independent operation and entrusted operation are discussed. Taking the intercity railway in Jiangsu Province as an example, the selection analysis of operation management mode is conducted, it is concluded that the independent operation management mode of competitive business outsourcing is better.
