Abstract: The reconstruction and expansion projects of vehicle depot have been increasing with the extension and improvement of rail transit network and the dramatic increase of passenger flow. Taking a reconstruction and expansion project of the second phase vehicle depot on Xi′an metro Line 2 as an example, and combined with the adaptability of the layout and scale of existing vehicle depot facilities, the reconstruction, expansion and new construction plans are compared, an expansion plan is recommended. At the same time, problems that need attention in the depot expansion project are summarized, it is pointed that the proposed plan shall integrate the existing operation conditions, the utilization of depot land, the long\|term planning and conditions of the reserved facilities, in order to reduce the impact of the project on the status quo in the design.
