Abstract:
The design style of modern metro vehicles is different from the mass-production style adapt to users in the whole region. It is more inclined to a specific area with regional characteristics of the design. In response to this trend, a metro vehicle styling design method that combines the cultural symbol of regional characteristics and the bionic image is proposed. That is to conduct modeling and bionic design through abstract extraction of cultural heritage such as building, pattern, legend that possess correspondent characteristics and then create, design with local unique biological forms. Taking the design of urban metro vehicle in Abuja (capital of Nigeria) as an example, the method and practice are implemented. The results show that the metro vehicles designed with this method receive a high degree of recognition.
