Abstract:
In order to solve the small space problem in the initial stage of metro EPB TBM (earth pressure balance tunnel boring machine) construction, which leads to the muck transportation failure in the conventional method, the tunneling section of the Package B of Kuala Lumpur MRT Line 2 is taken as an example to carry out the research. Problems in tunnel construction, like equipment selection, technological process, construction efficiency and stratum adaptability of the muck pumping technology in the initial stage of metro EPB TBM construction are analyzed, corresponding optimization and improvement measures are put forward. On this basis, a set of key technologies with operability for muck pumping in the initial stage of the EPB TBM is formed, and then adopted in the tunneling section of the Package B of Kuala Lumpur MRT Line 2 in the initial stage and successfully complete the muck-discharging task of totally 71 rings.
