Power Supply System Scheme for Catenaryless Metro Depots

    Abstract:
Objective The infrastructure configuration, maintenance process, and dispatching mode of catenaryless metro depots differ from those of conventional depots. Under these influences, its power supply system scheme needs to be studied. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the power supply system scheme for catenaryless metro depots.
Method Taking the Shibo depot on Kunming Metro Line 5 as a case study, the corresponding power supply schemes under different catenaryless configuration modes are analyzed in terms of economic feasibility and traction energy consumption impacts. Furthermore, the advantages and disadvantages of catenaryless metro depots are explored from the perspective of power supply systems.
Result & Conclusion Different catenaryless configuration schemes have different impacts on equipment and cause different investment fluctuations in depot power supply systems. Overall, catenaryless metro depots can simplify operational workflow, enhance the depot landscape, and reduce stray current impacts. However, they also impose higher requirements on onboard energy storage systems, increase isolation and management workload between electrified and non-electrified areas within the depot, and raise daily operational traction energy consumption.
