Abstract:
Objective The civil works of section SG1 of Jiaxing-Fengnan Suburban Railway are located within water-rich soft soil strata, where shield tunnel construction faces numerous challenges. Therefore, targeted research on safety management-control measures during the shield excavation process is required.
Method Safety risks associated with shield reception and launch, slurry retention and discharge blockage with soil 'mud cake' formation, and land subsidence are analyzed. Management-control measures for shield tunnel construction safety are proposed from the perspectives of stratum characteristics, shield excavation parameter control, muck conditioning, shield grouting, and monitoring and measurement. Additionally, the adoption of new digital management-control technologies is proposed to enable remote monitoring and control of shield tunnel construction.
Result & Conclusion In the shield construction of section SG1 of the Jiaxing–Fengnan Suburban Railway civil works, implementing the proposed safety management-control measures ensured construction quality and safety and improved construction efficiency. The project also accumulated valuable experience for shield tunnel construction in water-rich soft soil strata.
