Analysis of Arcing Problem Caused by Stray Current and Backfeeding System Optimization in Metro Vehicle Depot and Stabling Yard

  • Stray current causes frequent arcing problem in metro depot and stabling yard. Based on actual typical arcing problem cases, reasons for stray current arcing issue is expounded in conditions whether backfeeding system has abnormality or not. The reason why arcing problems occur when wheels pass insulated rail joint on track without overhead contact system such as lathe library, washing garage and track garage is analyzed in-depth. Targeting depot and yard backfeeding system, optimization advices such as setting up backfeeding separation area, avoiding direct or indirect ground points inside garage are proposed.
