Reflection on Current Development of Suburban Railways

As an important component of urban comprehensive transportation system, suburban railway is a commuting, high speed and large capacity rail transit system that connects the central urban area and surrounding town groups, as well as among town groups. Suburban railways that have been operating and are under construction in China all demonstrates the characteristics of large capacity and high speed as backbone lines. Through analysis of the current situation of suburban railways in China, problems and suggestions in the development of suburban railways are proposed, while analysis and reflections are made on aspects including realization of suburban railways express line functionality, relationship between suburban railways network and central urban area, display on advantages of interoperation, determination of main technical standards, coordinated development with other transportation modes.
