Design and Comparison of Novel Permanent Magnet Synchronous Traction Motor for Rail Transit

  • In accordance with satisfying the external characteristics and structural constraints of original induction motor in rail transit, a novel less magnetized permanent magnet synchronous motor is designed based on the topology structure of the rotor magnetic circuit of a new type permanent magnet synchronous traction motor. By comparing and comprehensively evaluating the rotor structure, torque characteristics, loss and line energy consumption of the motor, the results show that by designing the magnetic circuit of motor reasonably, the permanent magnet torque and reluctance torque can be fully utilized to realize a wider working area. At the same time, compared with the energy consumption of the current motor operated in rail transit, the energy saving effect of the novel less magnetized permanent magnet synchronous traction motor is evidently more remarkable.
