Influence of Multi-factor Coupling on the Aerodynamic Effect of Suburban Railway Train Passing through Stations

  • Objective Aerodynamic effect of trains passing through stations at high-speed seriously impacts the operational safety of suburban railways. The number of train formation, train running speed through stations, and spacing between PSD (platform screen door) and platform edge these three factors jointly form a complex aerodynamic environment. It is necessary to determine the influence degree of each factor on the aerodynamic effect, as well as the mutual influence among these factors.
    Method Using an aerodynamic effect simulation calculation method, the aerodynamic effects of these three significant influencing factors are calculated for different value setting conditions. Combined with data statistical methods, the calculation results are analyzed through both single-factor analysis and multi-factor interaction analysis.
    Result & Conclusion  When a train passes the station, the aerodynamic pressure shows a "near end high - far end low" asymmetric pressure distribution. Pressure peaks occur concentratedly at the instant when the train head passes the monitoring point, and all pressure waveforms display a similar "sharp rise-gradual decline" trend. Multiple factors show a nonlinear superposition effect on aerodynamic pressure: the number of train formation has a relatively small influence; the drag reduction effect of PSD - platform edge spacing weakens as the spacing increases; train speed has the highest degree of influence on the aerodynamic effect. There is a significant synergistic inhibition effect between the two factors of train running speed and PSD-platform edge spacing: the wind pressure increases by 10.387 Pa for every 1 km/h increase in train running speed; and the wind pressure decreases by 0.359 Pa for every 1 mm increase in PSD-platform edge spacing.
